PE Publishing, RSNA and IET announce increased impact factor for 2009 -

Professional Engineering Publishing (PE Publishing), the publishing arm of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), UK, has announced that the International Journal of Engine Research has been awarded an Impact Factor of 0.903 in the 2009 Journal Citation Reports. Published 6 times a year, the journal includes original papers on experimental and analytical studies of engine technology. With global coverage of the latest research developments and technological advances affecting the automotive, railway and marine industries, and other areas of transportation, this journal is projected as an essential reading for engineers in engine research and development both in academia and industry.

In a related announcement, Radiological Society of North America announced that its journal Radiology has continued to uphold its sterling reputation as the most highly cited journal in its field. According to the 2009 Journal Citation Report (JCR), Radiology now holds 46,643 citations and is the number one cited journal in the category of Radiology, Nuclear Medicine & Medical Imaging. The journal has also been recognised as one of the top 100 most highly cited journals in Thomson Reuter's Web of Science.

The Institute of Executive Training (IET) also announced increased Impact Factors for its journals. The newest title in the portfolio - IET Power Electronics - has been successful in its application for inclusion in the Web of Science and will receive its first impact factor in 2011.

Impact Factors are a method of measuring the influence which a journal has on the scientific community. Calculated by Thomson Reuters, they are designed to indicate how many times the published articles of a journal are cited during the course of a year, providing an insight to how much 'impact' the journal is making on the scientific community.
