Pearson unveils Generative AI innovations to enhance learning and teaching -

Pearson, the global leader in lifelong learning, has announced a suite of new generative AI-powered tools designed to revolutionize education for students and educators across various age levels. This announcement is part of Pearson's broader strategy update to investors.

Last summer, Pearson became the first major higher education publisher to integrate generative AI study tools into its proprietary academic content. The company is now accelerating its AI efforts with several new features set to debut next month, offering a richer, more engaging experience for both students and educators.

Millions more students will gain access to Pearson’s AI study tools as they expand into approximately 80 new titles, including international editions. Currently, 70,000 students are using these tools within Pearson's platforms, Mastering and MyLab, as well as Pearson+ eTextbooks. The expansion will be in place for the upcoming fall semester.

Pearson is adding three innovative AI tools to Pearson+ Channels:

Personalized Learning Experiences: Students can upload their syllabus to generate personalized learning pathways that follow the syllabus order.

AI Tutor for Problem Solving: A new AI tutor will provide step-by-step solutions to problems, complemented by unique video content and practice questions.

AI Tutor for Video Content: An AI tutor will be available on top of each video to answer questions about the concepts presented.

A generative AI tool aimed at helping instructors efficiently build assignments will be introduced to 25 business, math, science, and nursing titles in the U.S. next month. This tool is designed to reduce the time instructors spend on assignment design, allowing them to focus more on direct student engagement.

Pearson’s full-time online K-12 public school program, Connections Academy, will adapt AI tools from Pearson’s higher education courseware for high school subjects. Connections Academy teachers will also have access to AI-based tools to design assessments.

In addition to these new AI tools, Pearson is developing an AI teaching assistant for English language teachers, aimed at supporting lesson planning and creation for students learning English.

Pearson’s application of generative AI is supported by learning scientists, vetted by subject matter experts, and based on content from Pearson’s extensive library of higher education materials. The company is committed to the responsible application of AI to drive product innovation and enhance the educational experience.
