Peoples Medical Publishing House (PMPH), China, has announced the acquisition of the book list from Canada-based health science publisher BC Decker Inc. This acquisition gives PMPH USA, the newly established US operation for PMPH, an impressive list of medical and dental books in oncology, surgery, dentistry, ENT and pediatrics with a world-wide following. Specific well-known titles include the Holland-Frei Cancer Medicine, Cameron & Sandone's Atlas of Gastrointestinal Surgery and Norman & Streiner's Biostatistics.
BC Decker will continue to own and produce its 15 subscription products in print and online formats. Brian Decker, President and Publisher of BC Decker, will serve as Publisher Emeritus during a transition period. The firm has established publishing partnerships with American, Canadian and international societies, among which are the American College of Surgeons and American College of Physicians, and will continue to support these associations and own and publish the acclaimed ACS Surgery and ACP Medicine.
PMPH, part of the Chinese Ministry of Health, publishes more than 1500 books and distributes over 20 million copies annually. It brings out reference works covering all areas of western medicine and traditional medicine, as well as translations from most major medical publishers. With the establishment of PMPH USA, and now the acquisition of BC Decker book list, the company is focused on expanding its international presence.
