Digital preservation specialist Portico has announced that the Library of Congress (LOC) has joined its e-journal and e-book digital preservation services. LOC joins hundreds of libraries and publishers around the world who support Portico's work.
Portico and the Library of Congress have been working together on digital preservation issues for several years; first through a start-up grant from the Library's National Digital Information Infrastructure and Preservation Program for Portico in the early days, and then further through the Library's National Digital Stewardship Alliance (NDSA) working group programs.
The Library of Congress holds more than 158 million items in various languages, disciplines, and formats. The Library serves the U.S. Congress and the nation both on-site in its reading rooms on Capitol Hill and through its award-winning website at www.loc.gov.
