Portland Press and Chinese National Science and Technology Library announce licence agreement -

Portland Press Limited, the not-for-profit publishing subsidiary of the Biochemical Society, recently signed an agreement with the Chinese National Science and Technology Library (NSTL) for country-wide online access to journals within their portfolio. Negotiations were facilitated by The Charlesworth Group.

The three-year licence will ensure online access to prestigious papers published in Biochemical Journal and other Portland Press titles throughout China. Through this initiative, the publisher seeks to increase the submission and publication of high-quality papers by Chinese researchers to Portland Press journals. The licence takes effect immediately.

Portland Press Limited and the Biochemical Society are proactively engaging with the Asia-Pacific research community. 2013 will see the first visit of the Biochemical Journal Editorial Board to Beijing for their annual Board Meeting alongside a free one-day Symposium at the Tsinghua University on March 14 to be hosted by the journal. The Biochemical Journal opened an Editorial Office in the Institute of Biophysics, Beijing, in 2011 with the aim of providing more support for Chinese authors.
