Silverchair has announced a new partnership with Portland Press Limited, the publishing arm of the Biochemical Society, to implement ScholarOne Manuscripts as the manuscript management solution for its journal portfolio.
Portland Press handles more than 5,000 submissions annually across five journals and a society magazine. The organization will migrate its peer review workflows from eJournalPress to ScholarOne Manuscripts. This development builds on the existing relationship established in 2018, when Portland Press selected the Silverchair Platform to host its journals, making the adoption of ScholarOne a natural extension of that collaboration.
ScholarOne Manuscripts is used by more than 650 publishers across over 9,000 journal sites worldwide. Silverchair’s investment in the platform has led to improvements in workflows, user experience, and system architecture, along with expanded integrations with specialized partners.
The implementation will include ScholarOne Gateway, a unified dashboard that provides authors and editorial teams with centralized, mobile‑responsive access to manuscripts across all journals in a portfolio. Features include single sign‑on, real‑time status visibility, and personalized action queues. Portland Press will also join the broader ScholarOne client community, which offers events and communications programming recognized with an EPIC Award from the Society of Scholarly Publishing earlier this year.
As Portland Press’s hosting provider, Silverchair will provide additional coordination by overseeing both submission infrastructure and hosting services, enabling tighter integration and a single point of accountability for support.
