STM publisher Elsevier, Netherlands, has announced that Procedures Consult, an online, multimedia procedures training and reference tool for medical students and residents, has partnered with MyEvaluations.com to enhance residency training in medical procedures. MyEvaluations.com is a leading medical education training management service provider.
MyEvaluations.com uses patented on-line technology to allow residency, fellowship and medical school programs to fully manage their medical education electronically, including MyPortfolio for competency-based tracking of academic and clinical activities. The company's software allows programmes to design, assign and review their own evaluations, procedures and patient logs. MyEvaluations.com facilitates compliance with graduate medical education requirements by ensuring that residents perform procedures competently under medical supervision.
The partnership enables single sign-in capability for institutions that subscribe to both applications; contextual, single-click access to the content on Procedures Consult from the procedures submission area and within the universal navigation on MyEvaluations.com; and the ability to capture and view the knowledge competency tracking data from Procedures Consult within the MyPortfolio section on MyEvaluations.com, which captures other metrics of knowledge development such as lectures attended and assigned academic materials reviewed.
In addition to medical students and residents, other potential users of Procedures Consult include practicing physicians, physician assistants, certified registered nurse anesthetists, operating room nurses, advanced practice nurses and respiratory therapists. Healthcare organisations, including hospitals, medical groups and medical schools, can also customise Procedures Consult to fit their needs. Earlier this year, Elsevier announced the addition of new modules to Procedures Consult in orthopedics, anesthesia and emergency medicine.
