Construction information solutions provider Reed Construction Data (RCD), US, and CADworks have announced an agreement to partner to extend the delivery of high-quality content to building product manufacturers (BPM's) and help accelerate the adoption of building information modeling (BIM).
The partnership will allow the Reed Construction Data national sales force to identify BIM opportunities for MEP manufacturers. CADworks will be Reed's preferred provider for mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) content creation.
Despite a recent increase in the adoption rate of BIM, there are still several obstacles to overcome before BIM is integrated on a widespread level. According to many architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry sources, the availability of quality BIM content is one of the leading barriers. In a study by RSMeans Business Solutions, firms rated accuracy (objects represent a real product), level of detail and time to develop an object as the most important factors for use of a BIM object.
Reed's SmartBIM Objects and CADworks' Intelligent Content, designed fully parametric, accurately represent the real-world characteristics of products, and meet the standards in the industry. These are loaded with the critical data Revit users need to design a detailed and coordinated BIM model.
