The Rockefeller Archive Center (RAC) has announced its new status as a Partner in the OCLC Research Library Partnership (RLP). This partnership aligns with RAC’s mission to enhance access to its extensive historical records and contributes to global knowledge sharing and research.
The RAC is renowned for its comprehensive collections that document the history of philanthropy and public service. Its archives include influential records from major philanthropic institutions such as the Rockefeller Foundation, the Ford Foundation, and the Knight Foundation, as well as the personal papers of key individuals associated with these organizations. These resources span diverse fields, including medicine, science, public health, the arts, agriculture, social sciences, urban affairs, and public policy.
Joining the OCLC RLP underscores RAC’s commitment to expanding its research and preservation efforts. The OCLC RLP focuses on four crucial areas for research libraries:
• Research Support
• Unique and Distinctive Collections
• Resource Sharing
• Next Generation Metadata
The OCLC RLP supports its partners in navigating the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and fosters efforts towards equity, diversity, and inclusion. With 120 partner institutions globally, the RLP is a significant network that enhances collaboration and innovation in the library and research community.
The RAC’s involvement in the RLP will further strengthen its ability to provide equitable access to its extensive collections and support for global research. The Center’s stipend program, online resources, and various scholarly events will benefit from the enhanced collaboration and resources offered through this partnership.
This new alliance with the OCLC RLP marks a significant milestone for the Rockefeller Archive Center as it continues to advance its mission of inspiring critical analysis and contributing to the global exchange of knowledge.
