The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) has announced that its journals portfolio is now accessible to 6,500 Indian institutions participating in the Government of India’s One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) initiative. The scheme is expected to benefit approximately 18 million researchers, students, and educators across the country.
ONOS aims to provide nationwide access to international scholarly research articles and journals for students, faculty, and researchers affiliated with higher education institutions managed by central and state governments, as well as research and development organizations funded by the central government. With this inclusion, RSC journals covering the breadth of chemical sciences are now available to member institutions across India.
RSC Chief Executive Officer Dr. Helen Pain described the move as an important step in strengthening the organization’s relationship with the Indian chemistry community. She emphasized that realizing the potential of chemistry requires trusted resources, inclusive collaboration, and alignment with India’s national education and development plans.
Dr. Venkatesh Sarvasiddhi, RSC Managing Director for India and South Asia, noted that the partnership supports Indian researchers and institutions by publishing their work, fostering development, and amplifying their contributions globally.
The ONOS initiative reflects India’s broader strategy to expand access to international research content and strengthen its academic and research ecosystem. The inclusion of RSC journals is expected to facilitate teaching, learning, and research across chemical sciences disciplines, supporting both national priorities and global collaboration.
