RSNA and SEG introduce reference-level retraction alerts to reinforce research integrity -

The Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) and the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) have launched a new Retraction and Errata feature on their journal platforms. The feature aims to improve the visibility of post-publication updates in cited literature. The implementation, developed in partnership with GetFTR and Atypon, enables retraction and correction notices to appear directly within article reference lists.

This enhancement allows researchers to immediately identify whether cited studies have been amended, corrected, or withdrawn without navigating away from the reading environment. The feature supports transparency by highlighting changes to referenced material at the point of citation, aiding faster evaluation of research credibility.

This capability is being deployed as part of Atypon’s broader rollout of GetFTR’s reference-level update indicators, following earlier integrations with publishers such as Taylor & Francis. The collaboration with RSNA and SEG signals a continued shift toward embedding trust signals within the researcher workflow.

SEG’s participation has been facilitated through GetFTR’s Free Tier, a model intended to extend access to essential integrity tools for smaller and society publishers. This approach reflects an industry-wide emphasis on accessible and scalable research verification mechanisms.

By extending visibility to corrections and retractions across cited materials, RSNA and SEG are contributing to ongoing efforts to support responsible publishing practices and safeguard scholarly reliability.
