Publishing Technology plc, a UK-based provider of software and services to the publishing industry, has announced an agreement for the implementation of its journal fulfilment software by academic publisher SAGE. Under the deal, SAGE will implement Publishing Technology's proven software across the business to align its journals fulfilment systems globally with the Publishing Technology systems that are already implemented at CQ Press, a Washington-based publisher which was acquired by SAGE in 2008.
Publishing Technology's journal fulfilment software will harmonise order entry, billings, access entitlement and fulfilment, as well as consortia dealings, content bundling and customer service across SAGE's business globally.
SAGE's investment in the future of its fulfilment systems begins with its journals business and is anticipated to be extended to incorporate its book titles in the following year. As part of the new contract, SAGE will also evaluate Publishing Technology's enterprise publishing application, advance, with a view to defining a clear upgrade path for the future, ensuring its technology stays at the forefront of an evolving digital publishing age.
As well as committing to extending its journals fulfilment systems, SAGE has also commissioned Publishing Technology's market communications and consultancy division, Publishers Communication Group (PCG), to carry out multi-lingual telemarketing campaigns to non-renewed subscribers to SAGE's extensive journals collection.
