Academic publisher SAGE recently announced a partnership with two industry-leading, online education applications - Blackboard and CourseSmart. The synergy created from this partnership provides both students and education professionals with an innovative new mode of education.
Blackboard/WebCT claims to be the most used course management system on college and university campuses. The system focuses on increasing the impact of education by transforming the experience of education - specifically through participation in online courses, as well as serving a variety of course-related material online.
CourseSmart is a venture founded and supported by major higher education textbook publishers, providing thousands of textbooks across hundreds of courses on a common eBook platform. For educators, CourseSmart provides instant access to review and compare course materials in their respective disciplines without the time, cost, and environmental impact of mailed print copies. For students, it provides a low-cost alternative to purchasing books with the additional benefit of intuitive web functionality.
In the context of these partnerships, SAGE will now provide students and educators with fully-integrated online course materials, as well as instant and cost-effective access to the e-Textbooks of their choice.
