Academic publisher SAGE Publishing has announced the purchase of Data-Planet, a statistical multidisciplinary data repository that has application in academic libraries, public libraries, government and commercial markets.
Data-Planet Statistical Datasets claims to be the largest collection of organised statistical data and is used by many of the world's leading research universities. Covering 16 major subject categories (including education, health and vital statistics, international relations and trade), it brings to SAGE 35 billion data points from over 450 databases sourced from 70 public and private organisations. Data-Planet provides immediate access to data presented in charts, maps, graphs and table form, via multiple points of entry further enabling and facilitating comparison within and to all other datasets within the Data-Planet repository.
Data-Planet is the flagship product of Conquest Systems, Inc. On completion of the purchase, Richard Landry, CEO and founder, alongside several other staff members will be joining SAGE to support the development and transition of the product.
