The King Abdullaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) and Macmillan Scientific Communications (MSC), an exclusive partner to Nature Publishing Group, have signed an agreement of co-operation. Under the deal, all Saudi Arabian universities will have online access for 12 months to the international scientific journal Nature, including the complete archive back to 1869. The agreement also commits KACST and MSC to the development of a translated version of Nature magazine for scientists in the Arab world.
All public and private universities in the Kingdom will have full-text access online to all available Nature content, including the latest papers and over 140 years of some of the most important research in the history of science.
The regularly updated Nature Arabic News website and monthly Arabic-language version of Nature magazine content are expected to launch in 2012. The new publication will allow native Arabic speakers throughout the world to access in their own language top quality science news and comment from Nature, as well as summaries of all the research papers from the world's premier multidisciplinary journal. All content will be freely available from the publication's website.
Macmillan is committed to working with institutions in the Middle East region. In March 2010, NPG launched Nature Middle East. The website showcases scientific and medical research from the Arabic-speaking Middle East region and is continuously updated with articles in English and Arabic.
