Sciety, the open research platform developed by a team within eLife, has announced the addition of Access Microbiology to its growing community of preprint review and curation groups. This collaboration brings transparent, public evaluation to the latest research in microbiology and virology, reinforcing both organizations' commitment to open science.
With the rise of preprints in scientific publishing, Sciety helps aggregate peer-reviewed preprints from various groups, including Biophysics Colab, GigaByte, Peer Community In, and PREreview. Now, Access Microbiology, owned by the Microbiology Society, becomes the first society-run open research platform to join Sciety’s network.
Launched in 2022 as an open-access platform, Access Microbiology facilitates the rapid and transparent sharing of diverse research outputs, including replication studies, null results, case reports, research proposals, and data management plans. Through Sciety, each Access Microbiology preprint will display its full peer-review history, including editor and reviewer comments, enhancing transparency and accessibility for researchers and the public.
This partnership aims to make microbiology research more discoverable and improve the peer-review process by offering an open evaluation model. Sciety continues to invite other organizations exploring open-review practices to join its platform.
