The Sponsoring Consortium for Open Access Publishing in Particle Physics (SCOAP³) celebrates a significant milestone with the addition of three new partner countries: Chile, Estonia, and Lithuania. This expansion further solidifies SCOAP³'s global impact, reinforcing collective efforts to ensure open access to research information in the field of high-energy physics (HEP).
Since its inception in 2014, SCOAP³ has been at the forefront of promoting open access in the scientific community. By financially sustaining 11 leading journals for over a decade, SCOAP³ has facilitated full and immediate open access to over 90% of research articles in high-energy physics. This groundbreaking initiative has transformed HEP research into a public good, eliminating fees for both readers and authors worldwide and fostering a more equitable research landscape.
In 2021, SCOAP³ expanded its reach with the launch of SCOAP³ for Books, making over 100 academic books in particle physics accessible to all. This move has not only enriched teaching and scholarship but has also underscored SCOAP³'s commitment to advancing knowledge dissemination on a global scale.
The recent addition of Chile, Estonia, and Lithuania to the SCOAP³ consortium marks a significant step forward in its mission. By welcoming these new members, SCOAP³ reaffirms its dedication to fostering collaboration and shared commitment to the principles of open access. As SCOAP³ embarks on this new chapter of growth and innovation, it remains steadfast in its support of the global research community, striving to make scientific knowledge freely available to all.
