Scope e-Knowledge Center (Scope), a leading provider of knowledge services and a Quatrro Global Services company, has announced a partnership with Springer Nature, one of the leading global publishing companies. Under the terms of the agreement, Scope's team of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and certified taxonomists will build and maintain knowledge models (taxonomies and thesaurus) for the global publisher's various online information products. This covers nearly 14 subject domains including niche verticals such as Oil & Gas, Material Properties and Nanotechnology.
The knowledge models will be developed consistent with the best practices suggested by ANSI/NISO standards. While Scope will approach each of the knowledge models with the objective of improving discoverability, it also has to ensure that the knowledge modelling solution should also cut across product silos to create an overarching architecture connecting all of Springer Nature's content.
To ensure accuracy and currency of the knowledge models, Scope will also engage an external panel of experts from the industry and academia, in addition to Scope's team of taxonomists and SMEs. Scope will adopt a consultative approach to facilitate Springer Nature with a solution that optimizes search, enables facetted navigation, and also is amenable for future semantic enrichment for an enriched user experience.
Tram Venkatraman, President of Scope, commented, "Scope is pleased to engage with Springer Nature to create thesauri to support its growth plans for corporate clients. We see this as a huge validation of our unique delivery model of platform-enabled subject matter expertise in building controlled vocabularies."
M.A. Eswaran, Scope's Chief Operating Officer, commented, "Scope has developed and deployed controlled vocabularies for clients in various disciplines to enable precise navigation, search and retrieval of content. We look forward to a lasting partnership with Springer Nature to support its needs for knowledge mode development and maintenance. "
