Content informatics firm Serendio has released DisKoveror, a work flow enabled copy editing tool aimed at improving the productivity of copy editing teams while simultaneously enhancing the accuracy of the results. Serendio is one of the early companies to come out of Svapas Innovations, a Technology Incubator focusing on transforming leading-edge ideas to market innovations.
DisKoveror solutions are projected to provide a flexible and extensible content informatics framework that primarily extracts insights and intelligence from unstructured data using techniques such as text mining and Natural Language Processing (NLP). Built on innovative NLP, Machine Language (ML) and text mining algorithms and techniques, DisKoveror is claimed to be of immense help to the pre-press industry and its teams.
DisKoveror is available as a hosted solution (SaaS) for more cost-effective ownership. It has successful deployments in pharma/life sciences, STM publishing and pre-media environments. It is also deployed in market research, particularly in sentiment analysis/brand surveillance and in secondary research support. In addition, it offers users the ability to connect to public, in-house and subscription content and provide appropriate aggregation of data, in analysing volumes of documents and making contextual classification, linking and hyper linking.
The tool provides for industry standard rules, both for grammar as well as pattern inconsistency checks. It takes adequate care of routine tasks such as checking for reference numbering, style and sequence, both within the text and at end in the bibliography or list of references. In addition, users can add their own set of rules. The tool supports MS Word, Tex and a host of other formats. The work flow is a key feature in this tool providing for a totally flexible definition of the flow, the constituent roles and responsibilities and the associated tasks. The whole interface is intuitive and easy to configure and use. Version management helps maintain document versions as they go through the editing process. A set of industry standard metrics are tracked and reported to highlight the performance of the copy editing teams and in monitoring the whole process. Customer specific solutions are evolved collaboratively by working closely with the customer teams.
