Sixteenth profile in ARL series: University of Oklahoma Libraries support digital scholarship -

The Association of Research Libraries (ARL) has published the sixteenth profile in a series highlighting digital scholarship support at ARL member libraries. The latest installment in this series features the work of the University of Oklahoma.

The University of Oklahoma profile, written by ARL visiting program officer Catherine Davidson, presents a brief history of the evolution of digital scholarship support at the university, focusing on the Digital Scholarship Laboratory (DSL). Established in 2014, the DSL is a campus hub that fosters a community of practice for faculty and graduate students to collaboratively explore new technologies, methods, and skills in the creation of knowledge.

This profile describes the current work of the Digital Scholarship Lab, including information about the space, staffing, programs, collaboration, outreach, and resources. DSL hopes to expand in future to support a growing interest in leveraging digital collections, research data, and emerging technologies for research and teaching.

The four projects featured in the University of Oklahoma (OU) profile include: Making Modern America: Discovering the Great Depression and New Deal, a website populated with the research findings of OU students; Galileo’s World: An Exhibition without Walls, demonstrating Galileo's tremendous range of influence across disciplines; IsisCB Explore, an open access discovery platform for the history of science; and Digital Latin Library, which publishes and curates Latin texts from around the world.
