SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics, has announced a new three-year ‘Read and Publish’ agreement with the Bibsam Consortium in Sweden.
The three-year agreement, the first ‘Read and Publish’ agreement that SPIE has signed, began January 1, 2020. It incorporates read access to all SPIE journals and proceedings in the SPIE Digital Library, comprising more than 500,000 publications. In addition, it includes unlimited open access publishing in SPIE journals with no article-processing fees for authors affiliated with Bibsam-subscribing institutions. The SPIE Digital Library covers topical areas ranging from biomedical optics and neuroscience to physics and astronomy-related technology.
The Bibsam Consortium is operated by the National Library of Sweden. It has 85 active participating institutions including universities, university colleges, and government-funded research institutions. Representatives from the participating organisations form the Bibsam steering committee, which works on strategic issues and policies regarding e-licensing in general and negotiations in particular.
