Springer and Turkish consortium TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM EKUAL sign agreement for nationwide access to scientific journals -

STM publisher Springer and the Turkish consortium TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM EKUAL have signed a comprehensive license agreement for access to Springer's complete journal collection plus the Adis collections. The new agreement enables scientists, researchers and students from 193 academic and research institutions in Turkey to use and archive articles from 1,991 Springer journals going back to 1997. Starting January 1, 2015, the license will cover a period of three years.

For many years, Springer has been a strong partner providing valuable scientific content to all members of academic and research institutions in Turkey. ULAKBİM had previously purchased four subject collections from Springer's Online Journal Archives in the fields of computer science, environment science, humanities, and business and economy. Under this new license agreement, all 193 academic and research institutions will also gain access to these selected journal archives. The main users including postgraduate students, professors and instructors goes up to 475,000 but taking into account the potential use by undergraduates, the number of users could increase to more than two million.

As the access was granted in January 2015, many institutions which have benefited from this agreement have already given positive feedback, underscoring the nationwide impact.
