Springer announces impact factor increases for 2011 -

STM publisher Springer Science+Business Media, Germany, has announced significant increases in impact factors throughout its journal portfolio, according to the 2011 Journal Citation Reports (JCR), published by Thomson Reuters.

A total of 62 Springer journals earned their first impact factor this year, bringing the number of journals Springer now has in the database to 1,469. In 2011, 54 percent of all Springer journals increased their impact factor and 76 percent were cited more frequently.

Added to the JCR were 19 new open access journals from BioMed Central, part of the Springer group. The total number of Springer open access journals with an impact factor has now reached 137, which reflects about 10 percent of the total number of Springer journals listed in the database.
