STM publisher Springer, Germany, has announced that it has been chosen by the Physiological Society of Japan (PSJ) to publish The Journal of Physiological Sciences, starting January 2009 with Volume 59, Number 1.
A bimonthly publication, The Journal of Physiological Sciences is the official journal of the PSJ. The journal will join Springer's strong portfolio of physiology journals which includes such publications as Experimental Brain Research and Pflügers Archiv: European Journal of Physiology.
The Journal of Physiological Sciences will be available in print and electronically on Springer's online platform www.springerlink.com. The journal publishes peer-reviewed original papers, reviews, short communications, technical notes and letters to the editor, based on the principles and theories of modern physiology. All fields of physiology are covered, encompassing molecular, cellular and systems physiology, and although the emphasis is on human and vertebrate physiology, comparative papers are also included.
The Physiological Society of Japan aim is to promote research in the physiological sciences by encouraging communication among members and by contributing to the national and international scientific communities. The Society is also actively engaged in outreach programmes to young researchers and to the public at large, to ensure that the importance of physiology to human health is well understood.
