Springer, SISSA sign publishing deal -

STM publisher Springer, Germany, has announced a publishing partnership with the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA), Italy. Under the deal, Springer will publish the latter's online-only scientific journal, Journal of High Energy Physics (JHEP), starting January 1, 2010.

The JHEP publishes a wide array of theoretical and experimental physics research, including, among others, collider physics, underground and large array physics, quantum field theory, supersymmetry and astroparticle physics. The journal was created in 1997 and was initially both free to authors to publish and free to readers. At its inception, JHEP was originally supported by SISSA, but then called in support from publishers for distribution and marketing.

The agreement between Springer and SISSA ensures the continued control over scientific and editorial matters by the scientific community and guarantees subscription fees to remain at reasonable levels, while actively examining future open access options.
