Taylor & Francis empowers Wikipedia editors with access to all journals -

In a move aimed at enhancing the quality and reliability of Wikipedia articles, Taylor & Francis, a leading academic publisher, has announced an agreement with The Wikipedia Library. This collaboration grants volunteer editors free access to the entirety of Taylor & Francis and Routledge journals, providing them with a wealth of peer-reviewed research across diverse disciplines.

Through The Wikipedia Library, a project under the aegis of the Wikimedia Foundation, dedicated Wikipedia editors now have the opportunity to delve into millions of peer-reviewed journal articles spanning fields ranging from anthropology to zoology. This initiative seeks to leverage the latest scholarly research to enrich and augment the content available on Wikipedia, the world's largest online encyclopedia.

Wikipedia, with over 6 million articles in the English-language version alone, serves as a pivotal source of information for countless individuals globally. The platform relies on the efforts of a dedicated community of volunteer editors who curate and validate information from reliable sources, including peer-reviewed journals, to ensure accuracy and adherence to editorial standards.

Since the inception of the partnership between The Wikipedia Library and Taylor & Francis in 2015, active volunteer editors, often without access to university collections, have benefited from access to Taylor & Francis journals in fields such as arts and humanities, strategic studies, and business. The extension of this collaboration to encompass over 3 million articles across all subject disciplines promises to significantly diversify the pool of resources available to Wikipedia editors.

In 2023 alone, Taylor & Francis Online witnessed over 9,000 visits from Wikipedia editors, with nearly 67,000 citations from Taylor & Francis journals integrated into Wikipedia articles.

This strategic alliance between Taylor & Francis and The Wikipedia Library underscores a shared commitment to advancing knowledge dissemination and ensuring the integrity of information accessible to millions worldwide through Wikipedia.
