Taylor & Francis expands scope of PeerJ multidisciplinary journal -

Taylor & Francis has announced an expansion in the scope of the multidisciplinary open access journal PeerJ, enabling submissions from a broader range of scientific disciplines. The expanded scope adds Chemistry, Materials Science, and selected fields of Engineering to the journal’s existing coverage of Medicine & Health, Biology & Life Sciences, and Environmental Sciences.

With the scope expansion, PeerJ will serve as a consolidated publishing venue for related scientific fields. As part of this change, the five PeerJ Chemistry titles and the Open Advances series have closed to new submissions, unifying content under a single journal and simplifying the submission process for authors.

Later in 2026, PeerJ is scheduled to further broaden its scope to include Mathematics, Physical Sciences, and additional areas of Engineering. PeerJ Computer Science will continue to operate as a standalone journal with its existing focus.

In parallel, a set of updates to PeerJ.com has been announced. The updates are intended to reflect the journal’s expanded scope and to present a wider range of published research across the disciplines now covered.
