Academic publisher Taylor & Francis has reaffirmed its commitment to making content accessible to all readers by joining the DAISY Consortium’s Inclusive Publishing Partner Program. This global initiative supports organizations in producing content that is accessible, fostering equal access to information and knowledge for individuals with varying reading needs.

By becoming part of the Inclusive Publishing Partner Program, Taylor & Francis aligns itself with other organizations dedicated to creating a more inclusive publishing landscape. The program offers publishers and tech companies access to expert advice, cutting-edge tools, and insights into the latest global standards and best practices for accessible publishing. It also supports the DAISY Consortium’s broader mission to develop worldwide solutions for accessible reading and publishing.

As a leader in the accessibility space, Taylor & Francis has already undertaken numerous projects to ensure its digital platforms, eBooks, and journal articles are fully accessible. The company’s involvement in DAISY’s initiative will enable it to further enhance its practices while exchanging knowledge with other industry leaders committed to accessibility.

In addition to this new partnership, Taylor & Francis is bolstering its internal accessibility strategy. The company recently appointed Jennie Mather as its Accessibility Officer, responsible for overseeing accessibility performance and coordinating audits to ensure compliance with industry standards. This strategic hire underscores the publisher’s commitment to delivering inclusive content across its entire portfolio.

Taylor & Francis is already recognized as a Global Certified Accessible Publisher and is a signatory of the Accessible Books Consortium and Publishing Accessibility Action Group UK charters. The publisher has made significant strides by converting over 175,000 eBooks and one million journal articles into the highly accessible EPUB3 format, while also adding alt-text descriptions to over 3,500 articles and 8,500 eBooks.

As part of the DAISY Consortium’s initiative, Taylor & Francis will continue to support the development of accessible content that meets diverse reading requirements. This collaboration highlights the publisher’s dedication to ensuring that everyone, regardless of their abilities, has equal access to high-quality information and educational resources.

Through this partnership, Taylor & Francis and other members of the Inclusive Publishing Partner Program are working together to drive forward the mission of a more accessible, inclusive publishing industry.
