Taylor & Francis signs publishing agreement with Natural History Museum -

Academic publisher Taylor & Francis, UK, has announced that it will publish Systematics and Biodiversity and Journal of Systematic Palaeontology on behalf of the London-based Natural History Museum, starting 2010.

Systematics and Biodiversity is an international life science journal devoted to whole-organism biology, especially systematics and biodiversity. The journal records the diversity of organisms through taxonomic papers, which have broad biological and contextual significance, using descriptive and analytical approaches. Coverage also includes relevant theory and methodology developments in taxonomy and classification, and conservation biology. The journal currently has an Impact Factor of 1.727 and is ranked 11th out of 28 journals in the biodiversity and conservation category of Journal Citation Reports. The Editor-in-Chief is Prof Elliot Shubert.

Journal of Systematic Palaeontology publishes papers which use systematics in ways that advance understanding of palaeogeography, palaeobiology, functional morphology, palaeoecology, biostratigraphy or phylogenetic relationships, as well as papers describing new or poorly understood fossil faunas and floras. Like Systematics and Biodiversity, it is indexed in the Journal Citation Reports, has an Impact Factor of 2.375 and is ranked 5th out of 40 journals in the Palaeontology category. The Editor-in-Chief is Dr Paul D Taylor.

The journals will move to Taylor & Francis’ InformaWorld platform, where they will benefit from HTML versions of articles, forward citation linking and advanced publication of articles online through iFirst. Manuscript Central online submission and review will also be established, making peer review more efficient and maximising outreach to international authors. Back issues of both titles will be digitised and made available to subscribers online.
