The American Statistical Association (ASA) has announced a publishing partnership with international publisher Taylor & Francis Group. Under the deal, Taylor & Francis will publish the ASA publication, CHANCE, in full colour on behalf of the ASA beginning in 2012.
CHANCE is the ASA's quarterly magazine that brings statistics to everyday life.
The publication features easy-to-digest articles that showcase how statistical methods and ideas in the social, biological, physical, and medical sciences can be engaging, fun, and enlightening.
Since its creation in 1988, CHANCE has covered such topics as expert witnesses and the courts, teacher evaluations and student grades, the statistical history of the AIDS epidemic, election night predictions, racial profiling, counter-terrorism, and the hot hand in ice hockey. It also sponsors The Statistics Forum, a blog that provides everyone the opportunity to participate in discussions about probability and statistics and their role in important and interesting topics.
In 2012 and beyond, the ASA and Taylor & Francis will continue to offer CHANCE by subscription. ASA members should continue to contact the ASA for their subscriptions. Others seeking 2012 subscription and access information should contact the Taylor & Francis Customer Service Department. The ASA maintains its copyright ownership and control over CHANCE pricing.
Executive Editor Sam Behseta intends to continue serving the CHANCE audience by publishing highly engaging statistical articles with minimal use of equations and technical jargon.
