The Company of Biologists has entered into an agreement with Compass Partners to support and manage sales of site licenses for non-academic organizations.
Under the collaboration, Compass Partners will lead outreach, sales of subscription and Text and Data Mining (TDM) licenses, and account management for corporate, government, clinical, and other non-academic institutions seeking organization-wide access to The Company of Biologists’ portfolio of journals.
The partnership is intended to expand sustainable revenue options for independent publishers while broadening access to biological research beyond academia. Tailored site-wide licensing options will be offered to non-academic organizations requiring high-quality research to support professional and innovation-driven work.
Compass Partners stated that the collaboration aligns with efforts to strengthen financial resilience for independent publishers while supporting mission-driven scholarly ecosystems. The agreement was presented as part of broader initiatives to develop diversified revenue strategies and ethical licensing models in a changing publishing landscape.
