Thieme Publicações Ltda, the Brazilian subsidiary of the Thieme Publishing Group, has announced the purchase of the Brazilian medical publisher, Livraria e Editora Revinter Ltda.
Revinter, run by Sergio and Laercio Dortas, has more than 40 employees, with offices in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. Founded in 1974, the company has more than 1,500 active book titles covering a range of medical specialties, and these complement the existing portfolio at Thieme. Over the last 40 years, Revinter has established a reputation for high-quality publishing in key clinical areas for the health professional.
The Brazilian subsidiary of Thieme was established in 2013, providing the publishing group with an important base for the growing Latin American market. With an office in Rio de Janeiro, the company now publishes the journals of several Brazilian medical societies and has a developing program of Portuguese-language books.
Under the terms of the acquisition, Revinter will merge with Thieme Publicações, retaining Sergio and Laercio Dortas as consultants. The current General Manager at Revinter, Renata Barcellos, will take over responsibility for the newly merged company.
