Thieme Group and National Medical Library forge partnership to enhance medical education in India -

In a landmark move to bolster medical education in India, Thieme Group, a global leader in healthcare education with over 140 years of expertise, has signed a significant agreement with the National Medical Library's Electronic Resources in Medicine (NML-ERMED) Consortium. This collaboration, an initiative of the Directorate General of Health Services under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, will provide access to Thieme Group's comprehensive e-learning platform, MedOne Education, to 58 member institutions of NML.

This partnership will benefit over 5,000 students, researchers, and faculty members by granting them access to MedOne Education's extensive library of resources, which spans 30 disciplines within the undergraduate medical curriculum. MedOne Education, already licensed by 9 of the top 10 medical schools globally, offers an unparalleled collection of educational tools, including over 150 e-books with more than 85,000 pages of illustrated content, 900 instructional videos, 90,000+ images, 239 clinical modules, and 12,000 Q&A sets.

Through this agreement, NML-ERMED users will have access to Thieme’s renowned Flexibooks and Color Atlases, including the award-winning Thieme Atlas of Anatomy. The platform also provides medical textbooks aligned with the Indian medical curriculum, authored by prominent figures like Dr. Vishram Singh, Dr. Suresh Gangane, Dr. G.P. Pal, and Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Mittal.

MedOne Education is designed to enhance the learning experience with high-quality images, engaging videos, and customizable playlists that align with specific courses. Students will also benefit from practice questions tailored to both national and international medical licensing exams and real-world case studies that develop critical clinical reasoning skills. A unique feature, MedOne@Home, allows users to access the platform from anywhere, beyond their campus libraries.

For instructors, MedOne Education provides a valuable resource for preparing lectures and presentations, with downloadable images and an extensive content library to create interactive lesson plans. Librarians will also find it an essential tool for expanding digital collections, ensuring that students have access to the latest and most authoritative medical information.

Thieme Group's collaboration with NML ERMED marks its first association with the consortium, although Thieme India has a history of partnering with prestigious medical institutions like AIIMS Delhi, PGI Chandigarh, and NIMHANS. Moreover, Thieme is among the few publishers shortlisted for participation in the Government of India’s proposed One Nation One Subscription initiative, further solidifying its commitment to advancing medical education in the country.

This partnership underscores Thieme Group’s ongoing dedication to delivering quality medical education content and supporting the academic needs of medical institutions across India.
