Business information provider Thomson Reuters, US, has acquired UK-based analyst firm GFMS (formerly known as Gold Fields Mineral Services). GFMS is a precious metals consultancy, specialising in research into the global gold, silver, platinum and palladium markets.
This acquisition enables Thomson Reuters to offer powerful forecast analytics and rich fundamentals content from GFMS alongside its leading metals news and pricing service on Thomson Reuters Eikon. This combination delivers all the critical information and tools that customers need to optimise their business, investment and trading strategies in the metals marketplace.
Both Philip Klapwijk, chairman of GFMS, and Paul Walker, CEO of GFMS, will remain with the business and take up new roles as global head of metals analytics and global head of precious metals respectively. They will report to Mitchel Ingham-Barrow who is Global Head of Metals at Thomson Reuters.
Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
