The University of Maryland (UMD) Libraries have announced the extension of their partnership with Elsevier ScienceDirect through a new agreement that will run until December 2024. This agreement ensures continued access to a wealth of scholarly resources and includes enhanced access to Cell Press titles, offering even more opportunities for academic research and discovery.

ScienceDirect, a leading platform for scientific literature, allows users to explore a vast range of peer-reviewed materials such as journals, books, conference proceedings, and other research published by Elsevier. With this extension, UMD students, faculty, and staff will continue to benefit from the extensive resources provided by ScienceDirect, facilitating their access to valuable information across various fields.

In addition to ScienceDirect, the agreement ensures continued access to Scopus, another vital product offered by Elsevier. Scopus is a comprehensive research tool that enables users to search, analyze, and evaluate scholarly content. It empowers researchers to track citations, evaluate productivity, identify potential collaborators, and gauge the impact of their research. With access to over 75 million records from thousands of publishers across various disciplines, Scopus remains an indispensable resource for the UMD community.

The extended agreement with Elsevier will also allow UMD students, faculty, and staff enhanced access to Elsevier's prestigious Cell Press titles, effective from January 1, 2024, through December 31, 2024. These titles cover a wide range of topics and represent some of the most significant advancements in scientific research.

The expanded access includes 12 additional new Cell Press titles. Here is a selection of these highly regarded journals: Cancer Cell: A prominent forum showcasing major breakthroughs in cancer research and oncology; Cell Stem Cell: A comprehensive journal that covers the entire spectrum of stem cell biology, affiliated with the International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR); Cell Systems: A journal focusing on fundamental questions in systems biology; Chem: A platform for fundamental studies in chemistry and its sub-disciplines; Chem Catalysis: A new monthly journal publishing research on fundamental and applied catalysis; Joule: A publication featuring research, analysis, and ideas addressing the global need for sustainable energy; Matter: A monthly journal encompassing the broad field of materials science, from nano to macro, covering fundamentals to applications; Med: A flagship clinical and translational research journal published by Cell Press; Molecular Therapy: A journal dedicated to research in gene transfer, stem cell manipulation, therapeutics development, and related areas; One Earth: An original research journal seeking to understand and address today's environmental challenges; Trends in Cancer: A review journal offering expert commentary on key research topics and cutting-edge advances in the field of cancer discovery and medicine; and Trends in Chemistry: A journal for the discussion of significant and transformative concepts across all phases of chemistry.

These additional titles provide UMD researchers with even more opportunities to stay at the forefront of scientific advancements in their respective fields and contribute to cutting-edge research.

UMD Libraries' extension of the agreement with Elsevier ScienceDirect reaffirms their commitment to providing valuable resources and fostering an environment of academic excellence.
