Universities Australia Consortium selects Thomson Reuters' Web of Science for education and research needs -

The Universities Australia consortium has chosen to renew Web of Science from Thomson Reuters for its members' education and research needs through 2013. Web of Science, a comprehensive database of research citations, is widely used by researchers, administrators, faculty and students. Universities Australia represents Australia's 39 universities.

Thomson Reuters and Universities Australia have worked together to fulfill the consortium's expanding content needs with Current ContentsConnect, a complete table of contents and bibliographic information, in the 1990s and Web of Science in 2002. Under the renewal agreement, Thomson Reuters will provide additional content such as Conference Proceedings Citation Index, a Web of Science database and Journal Citation Reports. These products enable users to search the right content and find relevant information within one integrated, versatile and easy-to-use system.

Web of Science, part of the Web of Knowledge platform, provides access to the world's leading citation databases with multidisciplinary coverage of over 11,000 influential journals and 110,000 conference proceedings spanning the sciences, social sciences, arts and humanities.

Thomson Reuters claims to be the only organisation to provide users with a century of archival data and cited references from 1900 to present day spanning both the sciences (Century of Science) and social sciences (Century of Social Sciences). This enables users to track trends, authors and articles over the entire 20th century and to identify the most important scientific bibliographic and reference data plus seminal studies that form the basis for today's research. About one-third of Universities Australia members have access to the Century of Sciences and Social Sciences and the unique depth of archival data they offer.
