WSU Libraries expand Cambridge University Press journal access with open access publishing -

WSU Libraries has announced a significant expansion of Cambridge University Press journal access beginning this year, increasing journal subscriptions from 10 titles in 2025 to more than 420 titles. The expanded access is intended to support research and teaching across humanities, social sciences, and science, technology, and medicine disciplines.

Cambridge University Press publishes more than 420 peer-reviewed academic journals. The new agreement ensures that WSU researchers receive comprehensive access to this content while also enabling open access publishing.

The agreement includes unlimited open access publishing provisions, allowing WSU authors to publish research in Cambridge University Press journals without access barriers and making published work freely available to a global audience.

The package was secured through the nonprofit Northwest library consortium Orbis Cascade Alliance. According to Trevor Bond, WSU Libraries, the agreement will generate savings exceeding $50,000 compared with a previous read-only agreement that was canceled in 2020, while maximizing the impact of library resources.

The transformative agreement represents part of a broader commitment by WSU Libraries to support faculty research, expand access to scholarly publications, and promote open access knowledge sharing. The initiative joins a growing portfolio of open access agreements with major scholarly publishers, including Wiley and Elsevier.
