McGraw Hill integrates educational content with Microsoft 365 Copilot -

McGraw Hill has announced the development of an artificial intelligence (AI) plugin for Microsoft 365 Copilot, enabling eligible higher education institutions and school districts to access the company's educational content through the AI platform. The integration is intended to support teaching and learning by allowing educators and students to create personalized educational resources based on licensed course materials.

The initiative makes McGraw Hill one of the early major education publishers to provide its proprietary K-12, higher education, and professional learning content through Microsoft Copilot using the Model Context Protocol (MCP). MCP is a standard that enables AI applications to securely connect with external content and systems.

Educators and students affiliated with eligible institutions and school districts with Microsoft 365 Copilot enterprise licenses will be able to access McGraw Hill materials through the plugin. The functionality will allow users to summarize, translate, and adapt licensed course content to develop study aids, lesson plans, learning resources, and other materials aligned with their courses.

The plugin is part of McGraw Hill's broader strategy to expand the use of agentic AI in education. By making its educational content available through AI agents, the company aims to support more specialized applications that address teaching and learning requirements. The integration is also intended to provide institutions with a controlled environment for accessing educational materials through AI tools while maintaining safeguards around content usage and intellectual property.

The collaboration builds on McGraw Hill's existing portfolio of AI-powered tools integrated into its digital learning products. These include AI Reader, Sharpen, Learning Studio, Writing Assistant, and Teacher Assistant, which are designed to support specific teaching and learning activities.

The Microsoft Copilot plugin is part of the companies' broader efforts to explore AI applications across education. McGraw Hill has also selected Microsoft Copilot as its enterprise AI productivity platform to support employee AI adoption, improve organizational learning, and enhance workplace productivity.
