Elsevier and ACC expand 40-year partnership to enhance clinician access to cardiology guidelines -

Elsevier Health, a global leader in health information and analytics, and the American College of Cardiology (ACC), a global authority in cardiovascular care, have announced an expansion of their 40-year partnership. This collaboration now integrates ACC’s Clinical Practice Guidelines and Expert Consensus Decision Pathways into ClinicalKey AI, Elsevier’s cutting-edge generative AI-powered clinical decision support platform.

By incorporating ACC’s authoritative guidelines, ClinicalKey AI reshapes how clinicians access and apply evidence-based cardiology knowledge. Through conversational search capabilities, clinicians can quickly find actionable insights tailored to specific patient scenarios. This integration includes guidelines on crucial cardiology topics such as heart failure and atrial fibrillation, offering summaries, bullet points, and direct links to full-text content for deeper exploration.

During testing, ACC cardiologists explored ClinicalKey AI's performance in areas such as heart failure, electrophysiology, and prevention. They found that the AI-driven summaries streamlined the decision-making process, allowing clinicians to focus on patient care without compromising the depth of their evidence-based approach.

Key features of ClinicalKey AI include:

• Conversational search: Clinicians can ask specific questions and receive detailed, summarized answers.

• Evidence-based responses: Summaries link directly to the ACC’s guidelines and consensus statements.

• Time efficiency: Quick access to critical information reduces delays in clinical workflows.

For over four decades, Elsevier and the ACC have worked together to advance cardiovascular care. Initially delivering guidelines through JACC (Journal of the American College of Cardiology), the partnership now leverages advanced AI technology to bring these resources to clinicians at the point of care.

With the ACC guidelines now integrated into ClinicalKey AI, clinicians have a more robust repository of evidence-based resources at their fingertips. This partnership not only enhances patient care but also underscores the importance of aligning advanced technology with trusted medical expertise.
